Emergency Medical Services Day
Emergency Medical Services Day, observed on September 8th, is a holiday dedicated to all paramedics who stand on the front lines every day to protect the health and lives of patients. It was established in 2022 by the Polish Parliament.
Emergency Medical Services Day is a time to highlight the role of this professional group in the healthcare system across the country. It is also an opportunity to educate the public and foster social integration around the values inherent in emergency services – dedication, teamwork, and responsibility for others.
Paramedics in the Civil Protection System
In the context of the Act on Civil Protection and Civil Defence, paramedics play a fundamental role. The Act classifies them as entities of civil protection – units responsible for safeguarding life and health in crisis situations. They are also an indispensable part of civil protection resources, which include infrastructure, equipment, and personnel used in rescue operations.
Thanks to their mobility, training, and readiness to act immediately, paramedics play a crucial role during natural disasters, mass casualty incidents, and military threats. In the event of a state of war, paramedics formally become part of the civil defense structures, strengthening the system’s capacity to respond to threats.
On the occasion of Emergency Medical Services Day, we extend our heartfelt thanks to all paramedics and wish you health, strength, and satisfaction in your mission. We are grateful for your professionalism, readiness to act, and the dedication you bring to saving lives.
Emergency Medical Services at the PROTEGA Fair
The special role of paramedics in the national safety system will be one of the key topics at the PROTEGA Civil Protection and Civil Defense Fair. The event provides opportunities to:
- showcase modern technologies and solutions supporting the work of paramedics,
- exchange experiences among representatives of rescue services and public administration,
- build partnerships to strengthen joint readiness in crisis situations.
It is also an opportunity to recognize the daily efforts of paramedics and reinforce cooperation among all entities responsible for protecting life and health.
