Organizer:

International Firefighters' Day

Share

Firefighter's Day is a special holiday during which we express our gratitude to those who risk their lives every day to protect others. Although it was officially established in Poland in 2002, it has been celebrated for generations on May 4th – the feast day of St. Florian, the patron saint of firefighters

Both the State Fire Service and the Volunteer Fire Service jointly celebrate this day, honoring fallen colleagues and enjoying the opportunity for awards and community integration.

During official ceremonies, the most deserving officers receive promotions to higher ranks as well as medals and awards such as the "For Merits in Firefighting" or "Meritorious for Fire Protection." However, the holiday also has a local dimension – throughout the country, picnics, equipment and skill demonstrations, competitions, and concerts of fire department orchestras are organized.

Firefighter's work at the risk of life to save others

Firefighter's Day is also an opportunity to educate the public about the role of the fire service and the dangers associated with irresponsible handling of fire. It is a time for reflection on safety and the importance of preventive actions.

The daily service of firefighters involves immense risk. By entering danger zones and offering assistance to others, they often work in conditions that threaten their lives – they are exposed to toxic substances, high temperatures, collapsing structures, and sudden explosions. Their work is an ongoing struggle with unpredictable situations that require composure, quick reactions, and extensive technical knowledge.

From the Heart – to Firefighters

On the occasion of Firefighter's Day, we would like to extend our heartfelt wishes to all Officers, Firefighters, and Volunteers: health, strength, safe service, and satisfaction from helping others. We also wish that each deployment ends with a safe return to the station – as many returns as departures. Your dedication and courage deserve the highest respect – thank you!

PROTEGA 2025 Trade Fair – The Future of Rescue and Safety of Services

We are pleased to invite all firefighters to the Civil Protection and Civil Defence Fair PROTEGA, which will take place on November 24-25, 2025, at the Poznań International Fairgrounds. It will be an excellent opportunity to familiarize yourself with modern equipment and innovative technological solutions that support rescue operations, save lives, and ensure the safety of rescuers during interventions. The fair will also serve as a platform for exchanging experiences, debates, and presentations on the development of civil protection systems and cooperation between services, all with the aim of further improving citizen safety.
